In the heart of Udaipur district, one village stands as a testament to the power of dedication, leadership, and environmental stewardship. Tiloi village, led by Ruparam Gameti, has witnessed remarkable transformations thanks to his relentless efforts in community development, education, and environmental preservation. Ruparam's story is an inspiring reminder that true leadership doesn't always come from the top but often emerges from the most unexpected places.

A Vision for Community Upliftment
In 2009, Ruparam joined Seva Mandir after being inspired by the forestry work being carried out in nearby villages. Although Tiloi was a long 12 kilometers away from Bikarni, where meetings were held, Ruparam didn't let distance stop him. Walking for hours to attend meetings, he learned the importance of community development and environmental action. His passion led him to establish the Tiloi Gram Vikas Committee, where he was unanimously chosen as the president.

Facing Challenges with Courage
Ruparam's journey wasn't easy. When he took on the challenge of developing the village's 12.5-hectare pasture land, he faced resistance from villagers who didn't understand the importance of the project. Despite opposition, Ruparam's dedication didn't waver. He led the fight to reclaim the land from encroachers, eventually freeing it for the community. With support from Seva Mandir, the pasture land was fenced, and plantation work began. Today, the land thrives, benefitting 110 families in the village.

Empowering through Education
Ruparam's leadership didn't stop at environmental issues. He understood that education was key to the village's long-term development. With his tireless efforts, Ruparam established two informal education centers for boys and girls in the village. Many children who attended these centers have gone on to run successful businesses. One such success story is Puni Kumari, a girl who completed her education and went on to become the Sarpanch of Tiloi village. This is a clear testament to Ruparam's impact on the community.

Ruparam's story is a shining example of what can be achieved when a community comes together with determination and vision. His leadership and dedication have inspired countless others at the grassroots level, proving that change can start with just one person's commitment to making a difference.
