A Teacher with a Mission
In the tribal heartlands of Jhadol tehsil, Udaipur, one man is making an extraordinary difference. Naresh Kumar Lohar, a humble teacher from Magwas village, is transforming the lives of tribal children through education while championing environmental conservation. His journey is a testament to how one person's determination can bring about lasting change.
Nurturing Young Minds
Inspired by his parents, Naresh Kumar's deep bond with children fuels his passion for education. Recognizing the lack of educational resources in his community, he launched the "Har Hath Ko Kalam" campaign, providing study materials to underprivileged children. His efforts have boosted school enrollment in over 50 government schools, ensuring that more children have access to quality education.
A Green Crusader
Naresh Kumar doesn't just stop at education. For the past eight years, he has been on a mission to protect the environment. From planting trees in villages, forests, crematoriums, and highways to promoting the growth of medicinal plants, his work has created safe havens for countless birds. Even during the COVID-19 pandemic, he prepared and distributed thousands of seed balls to rejuvenate barren lands.
Compassion Beyond Classrooms
His compassion extends to animals as well. Naresh ensures water tanks and bird feeders are installed in villages, cares for sick animals, and distributes birdhouses. During the pandemic, while many stayed indoors, he stepped out with a sanitizer machine on his shoulder, sanitizing villages and distributing masks and rations.
A Legacy of Change
Naresh Kumar Lohar's journey is an inspiring blend of education, environmental stewardship, and humanitarian service that entitles him to the Umed Mal Lodha Environmental Award 2024. His initiatives have not only improved lives but also set an example for grassroots leadership. His story reminds us that real change begins with empathy, courage, and an unwavering commitment to serve.
